Industries and Applications We Supply

Industry Applications
Oil & Gas Industry
  • Mexico produces approximately 1.48 million barrels of oil per day (2024), with offshore production concentrated in the shallow and deepwater blocks of the Gulf of Mexico — the Cantarell complex, the Ku-Maloob-Zaap fields, and newer developments at Zama and Trion. Pemex’s onshore production is centred in Tabasco and Veracruz, with significant midstream infrastructure connecting to refineries at Salina Cruz (Oaxaca), Minatitlán (Veracruz), Cadereyta (Nuevo León), Salamanca (Guanajuato), Tula (Hidalgo), and the new Dos Bocas refinery in Tabasco.Slip-on flanges from Werner Flanges are used throughout these systems: on upstream wellhead and gathering piping (carbon steel, 600#–1500#), midstream pipeline connections (A105, 150#–300#), refinery process lines (carbon and alloy steel, various classes), and downstream product distribution (SS 316L for product quality lines). Our A350 LF2 low-temperature slip-on flanges are specified for LNG satellite stations and cryogenic service on the Gulf Coast.

Petrochemical & Chemical Processing
  • The Coatzacoalcos–Minatitlán corridor in Veracruz is Mexico’s primary petrochemical complex, home to Pemex Petrochemical’s facilities as well as Braskem Idesa’s ethylene cracker and polyethylene plants. The complex processes natural gas liquids, methanol, and aromatics — demanding slip-on flanges in stainless steel (A182 F316L), alloy steel (F11, F22), and duplex (F51) for corrosive process streams. Additional chemical clusters in San Luis Potosí, Monterrey (Nuevo León), and the State of Mexico generate further demand for high-specification flanges.
Power Generation
  • Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) operates Mexico’s national electricity grid through a mix of combined-cycle gas turbine plants (which account for ~55% of generation), hydroelectric stations, coal-fired units at Carbón II (Coahuila), and geothermal plants in Michoacán and Baja California. Slip-on flanges are critical in boiler feed-water systems, steam turbine connections, cooling water pipework, and condensate return systems. Carbon steel A105 flanges at 300#–600# and alloy steel F22 flanges at 900# class are the most common requirements.
Water & Wastewater Treatment
  • Mexico’s northern states face significant water scarcity, driving investment in municipal water infrastructure, wastewater treatment plants, and industrial water reuse systems. The National Water Commission (CONAGUA) is managing major pipeline rehabilitation projects, while industrial zones in Monterrey, Chihuahua, and Tijuana require robust flanged connections for cooling tower circuits and process water distribution. Flat-face carbon steel slip-on flanges at 150# class are the workhorse solution for these systems.
