Industries and Applications We Supply

Industry Applications
Oil & Gas Industry

Kuwait’s oil and gas sector accounts for the overwhelming majority of demand for industrial flanges in the country. With KPC committed to increasing production capacity significantly under its 2040 strategy, and KOC planning to drill and maintain thousands of wells under its largest-ever budget, the demand for high-quality piping components including weld neck flanges is set to expand significantly over the next decade.

Upstream Applications (KOC Fields — Burgan, Minagish, Umm Gudair, Raudhatain, Sabriyah) Weld neck flanges are used throughout wellhead and gathering system piping: Christmas tree assemblies, wellhead manifolds, flowline headers, test separators, and high-pressure gas injection systems. For sour service in KOC’s producing fields, flanges must comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, requiring ASTM A105 or F316L material with controlled hardness.

Midstream Applications — Flow Lines & Pipeline Tie-Ins KOC’s ongoing Separation Gathering Centre projects (SGC1, SGC3, and others) involve extensive pipeline networks for oil, water, and gas separation. These projects specify weld neck flanges in Class 600# and 900# for high-pressure liquid and gas service at manifold headers, pig traps, and metering stations.

Downstream Applications — KNPC Refineries (Mina Al-Ahmadi, Mina Abdullah, Al-Zour) The Al-Zour Refinery — one of the largest in the world at 615,000 barrels per day — along with the Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refinery complexes represent substantial demand centres for weld neck flanges. Applications include crude distillation unit (CDU) inlet and outlet connections, vacuum distillation, hydrotreater reactor piping in high-temperature alloy steel (F11, F22), and fractionation column nozzle connections.

Offshore & Partitioned Zone Applications (KGOC) Kuwait Gulf Oil Company’s operations in the Kuwait–Saudi Partitioned Zone at Khafji and Wafra involve offshore wellheads and gathering platform piping where duplex and super duplex weld neck flanges (F51, F53) are specified for their resistance to seawater corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Petrochemical & Chemical Processing
  • Kuwait’s petrochemical sector, centred around the Shuaiba Industrial Area, includes Equate Petrochemical Company (ethylene, ethylene glycol, polyethylene), the Petrochemical Industries Company (fertilizers, chlorine, caustic soda), and affiliated plants. These facilities require high-alloy weld neck flanges in F316L, F321, Duplex F51, and Nickel alloy grades for reactor inlet and outlet connections, corrosive chemical transfer lines, distillation column nozzles, and heat exchanger manifolds.
Power Generation
  • Kuwait operates a large network of gas-fired and combined-cycle power plants to meet the demands of an energy-intensive desert climate. Major installations include Al-Zour North, Sabiya, Shuaiba, and Al-Doha power stations. Weld neck flanges in alloy steel (F11, F22, F91) are used in high-temperature and high-pressure steam headers, boiler feed water systems, turbine exhaust connections, and attemperator piping.
Construction & Infrastructure
  • Kuwait’s New Kuwait 2035 Vision encompasses major infrastructure projects including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port development at Boubyan Island, the Silk City (Madinat Al-Hareer) mega-project, and extensive road and utility network expansions. Industrial weld neck flanges in carbon steel (ASTM A105) are used in utility piping systems, fire water networks, and industrial cooling water headers across construction sites and new industrial zones including Al-Abdali, Al-Naim, and Al-Wafra.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Are your weld neck flanges compliant with KOC and KNPC specifications?

Werner Flanges manufactures weld neck flanges in full compliance with ASME B16.5, ASTM standards, and API requirements referenced in KOC and KNPC piping specifications. We can provide detailed compliance statements and material data for vendor pre-qualification packages. Third-party inspection by TÜV, Lloyd’s, or BV can be arranged to satisfy project quality requirements.

Q2: Can you supply NACE MR0175-compliant weld neck flanges for sour service in KOC fields?

Yes. We maintain dedicated production controls for NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliant weld neck flanges. ASTM A105 carbon steel flanges are supplied with hardness controlled to a maximum of 22 HRC (237 HBW), and all PMI and hardness test results are documented and certified on the MTC. F316L and duplex grades are also available with NACE compliance documentation.

Q3: What are your typical lead times for delivery to Kuwait?

For standard carbon steel weld neck flanges (ASTM A105) in Class 150# to 600# up to NPS 24″, ex-works lead time is 7–14 days for stocked items and 3–4 weeks for made-to-order. Sea freight transit to Shuwaikh or Shuaiba ports is an additional 18–25 days. For urgent requirements, air freight to Kuwait International Airport is 3–5 working days. Lead times are confirmed at the time of quotation based on current stock and production schedule.

Q4: Do you provide EN 10204 Type 3.1 or 3.2 material test certificates?

Yes. All weld neck flanges are supplied with EN 10204 Type 3.1 material test certificates as standard. Type 3.2 certificates (countersigned by an approved third-party inspection body such as TÜV or Lloyd’s) are available on request.

Q5: Can you manufacture non-standard or custom-dimension weld neck flanges?

Yes. Werner Flanges has full custom manufacturing capability for non-standard bore sizes, custom hub lengths, special facings, large-diameter flanges per ASME B16.47, and flanges to DIN, BS, or customer-specific drawings. Custom items are quoted on a project-by-project basis with lead times confirmed per manufacturing capacity.

Q6: Can you ship directly to project sites in Kuwait, including Ahmadi and Al-Zour?

Yes. Werner Flanges can arrange door-to-door delivery to project sites in Kuwait via our logistics partners. We work with established freight forwarders familiar with Kuwait Customs clearance procedures, including the specific requirements for industrial equipment and piping components. Customs documentation, including HS code classification and certificate of origin, is provided with every shipment.

Q7: Are RTJ-facing weld neck flanges available in all pressure classes?

RTJ facing is available in Class 300# and above for all material grades. Ring-type joint grooves are machined to ASME B16.20 specifications and are compatible with oval and octagonal ring gaskets per API 6A and ASME B16.20. RTJ groove dimensions are confirmed at the time of order per the ASME B16.20 tables applicable to each pressure class and flange size.
